SALÀS DE PALLARS SHOPS

100 years of shopping and daily life.

Salàs de Pallars was the heart of Pallars Jussà thanks to its horse and cattle market. A market selling horses, mules and donkeys held for over 550 years, finally closing for good in the 70s.

Over ten years ago the Salàs de Pallars town council organized a project to renovate the shops which had had the most important effect on village life.. A life-sized museum spread among the different streets with shops representing trades from the second half of the nineteenth century to the those which survived Franco’s dictatorship.

We recommend a guided tourof the museum shops: the pharmacy, the tobacconists, the barber, the grocers, the café, the haberdashery and the newsagents.

Don’t miss the packaging and advertising details in the grocery.

More than one of them is sure to take you on a trip down memory lane.

38 km from Càmping de la Vall d’Àger.
