CANELLES RESERVOIR & COVA NEGRA

The Canelles reservoir is at the mouth of the Noguera Ribagorçana with the river Segre, between Os de Balaguer (Lleida) and Estopiñán del Castillo (Huesca).

It was constructed in record time (between 1953 and 1959 by a team from ENHER ( the Ribagorzana National Hydroelectric Company) and is considered the largest in Catalonia and the second highest in Europe.

Guided tour

The Energy and Geology Interpretation Centre and the Cova Negra de Tragó (Black Cave of Tragó).

The visit includes a stop at the Cova Negra de Tragó (the Black Cave of Tragó), complete with fossils, stalactites and stalagmites, that have been growing for over 100 million years.
